Amoxicillin Degradation by TiO2 P25 Solar Heterogeneous Photocatalysis: Influence of pH and Oxidizing Agent H2O2 Addition

Over the years, there has been an increase in consumption of drugs, particularly antibiotics. Amoxicillin (AMX) is considered one most widely used antibiotics, causing resistance microorganisms ecosystem where it found. Additionally, cataloged among drugs under surveillance by European Commission since 2020. The present work studies efficiency AMX degradation photolysis and heterogeneous solar photocatalysis processes different reaction pH levels (3.5, 4.15, 7 9) observing influence doses H2O2 (nil 4 mM), as oxidizing agent. TiO2 P25 was photocatalyst, impregnated glass supports 0.1 1 m2 flat plate reactors (FPR). A 2 × statistical analysis carried out after repeated measurements to determine relationship between parameters involved (process, dose, pH). kinetics showed best rate constant (KphC = 0.10 min−1) acidic medium conditions (pH 4.15), without addition H2O2, when using a FPR achieve 100% COD removal. ANCOVA significant differences (p < 0.05) use for first minutes surfaces.
